At Hope & Freedom, we believe that
Healing is possible, direction and purpose can be restored, and freedom is within reach.
Together, these three branches form a constellation of care—distinct, but all oriented toward the same guiding truth: lasting healing happens when we walk in truth, grounded in love, and lit by hope.

Hope & Freedom University
Offers online resources and courses that support recovery and growth from anywhere in the world.
Our Core Values
Inspired by the North Star—our symbol of constancy, purpose, and connection—we hold to these enduring truths:
-
Guided by Purpose
We lead with clarity, direction, and hope. Whether walking beside a client or training a clinician, we help others find and follow their true path. -
Wholeness in All Things
We believe healing must engage the whole person—mind, body, spirit, and story. Our approach is integrative, addressing the depth and breadth of human experience. -
Constancy in Care
In a shifting world, we offer stability, safety, and presence. We show up faithfully, with wisdom, humility, and love. -
Empowerment Through Truth
Truth brings freedom. We create courageous spaces where honest reflection leads to transformation—for individuals and for clinicians. -
Connection That Restores
Healing happens in relationship. We build bridges—between people and their purpose, partners and each other, clinicians and a wider community of care. -
Excellence in Action
We are committed to offering gold-standard care in every intensive, course, and training. Our methods are evidence-informed, results-driven, and always evolving. -
Hope as a Lifeline
Hope is not a wish—it’s a direction. From first contact to the final breakthrough, we speak and live with hope, because we’ve seen what’s possible.

Our History
Hope & Freedom Institute was founded by Dr. Milton Magness, a visionary in the field of sex addiction and betrayal trauma treatment. Under his leadership, the Institute pioneered an intensive, short-term treatment model that transformed lives by restoring hope and healing relationships.
Building on this strong foundation, Tina Wehner now serves as the current President and Executive Director of Hope & Freedom. Having learned directly from her predecessor, Cristina has embraced the Institute’s core principles and innovative approach. Her leadership honors the legacy of the founder while steering the Institute toward new opportunities and the latest advances in sex addiction and betrayal trauma research, ensuring that high-quality, transformative treatment continues to be accessible for those in need.
LEARN MORE ABOUT CRISTINAOur Online Practitioner Directory
Certified Hope & Freedom Practitioners (CHFPs) are outstanding therapists with extensive additional training as sex addiction therapists. In addition they have completed the exacting requirements of the CHFP program, including participating in multiple Three-Day Intensives, scoring at a superior level on a comprehensive exam about their CHFP training, and spending a significant number of additional hours in one-on-one training personally with Dr. Magness, Hope & Freedom founder and Tina Wehner, Hope & Freedom president.
The Intensives that CHFPs offer in their practices are identical to those offered at the Hope & Freedom offices in Charlotte. Only those therapists displaying the CHFP seal have been trained and certified by Cristina Wehner to deliver the Hope & Freedom Treatment Model. Only those therapists have been licensed to use the materials Hope & Freedom has developed and produced.
